The 2019 Southeastern Regional Championships took place in Cleveland, GA on April 26th and 27th. The tournament was held at the White County Parks and Recreation Center in the beautiful North Georgia mountains within eye shot of Mount Jonah.
Everything kicked off Friday night with our Black Belt test. We had an amazing test with a strong testing group of over 30 on the floor. It ended with Robert "RJ" Scott of Eagle Leadership Martial Arts winning best of test for the adults and Jossam Talde from Chandler Family Martial Arts winning for the youth.
The Championships started strong on Saturday with Black Belt Competition. Black Belts from as far as Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia attended. There was a very intense battle for the championship titles. In the end the adult woman's cup went to Heather Trundle from Karate World, and the men's cup went to William Townsend of Eagle Leadership Martial Arts.
That evening, everyone had one last chance to get together and celebrate with all of their friends and martial arts family at Troll Tavern in Helen, Ga. There were well over 60 people who celebrated along with the Kwan Jang Nim the many personal and group victories of the day. It was another "Pilsung" moment and was followed by more good times in the small Bavarian styled town of Helen, Ga.
It was a great weekend and another great experience for all who attended. We look forward to seeing everyone again at this year's Southeast Black Belt Camp, Instructor Training Symposium, and Fall cycle Dan Shim Sa on November 1st through 3rd at Camp ASCCA in Jackson's Gap, Alabama.
Until then, train hard and train often.
Tang Soo!!!
